Uluhe Beginnings
What do you do when your world comes crashing in around you? Devastating changes and losses cause a lot of emotions in us. We can become angry faster, cry easier and worry a lot.
I know, firsthand, about these types of emotions. I know about haunting fears that creep in and the reeling of saying goodbye. I know about living with uncertainty, health problems, and loneliness. Nature is what calms my heart, and that’s what this painting is all about.
Enchanted Garden
Do you ever wish you could walk through a door and leave this crazy life behind and melt into an enchanted garden? I sure do! In fact, most days, I kinda do just that! In the late afternoon or early evening, I head out to my garden just to walk and enjoy. I must admit, I often end up working a bit too…pollinating lilikoi, or pulling a few weeds here and there. I just love being in my garden...
Maku'u Friend
One of Melanie's favorite spots to sit and reflect is Maku'u point. She walks the lava cliffs and enjoys the solitude, but she is never alone. There is always a honu, or two or five to enjoy! This painting takes an imaginary dive down into the waters with them as they gracefully navigate the ocean.

Keiki O Ka Aina
The Ohia is a much beloved yet endangered tree here on Hawaii island (research "Rapid Ohia Death" for more information and how you can help). I found this beautiful little Ohia seedling growing on my land and named the painting Keiki O Ka Aina, or, Child of the Land.

Ocean Troubadour
In the winter, whales can be spotted from any of the Hawaiian islands. But even when you can't see them, you can often still hear them. While swimming along the shore, they will serenade you with songs of their own more distant adventures. This is my playful rendering of one of these beautiful creatures.

Corals of Hawaii
This set of three paintings invites you to journey out to the beautiful Hawaiian reef...without even a mask or snorkel. Each of these (lace coral, orange cup coral, finger coral ) is native to Hawaiian waters but would also liven up your home decor.

Into The Rainforest
As you drive thru the jungle, it can look two-dimensional. Once you step in, though, you discover it is much more. This multi-media painting invites you to experience the Hawaiian rain forest with all it's many textures, layers and colorful surprises.

After The Rain
East Hawaii... it's known best as the rainy side of the Big Island. Melanie loves the sounds and smells of the rain as it arrives, and even more, enjoys the remnants of the raindrops left on the flowers. This painting features her signature abstract watercolor background.
