Meet the Artist

I am an expressionist painter, pouring emotion, color and stories into my artwork. Tho my series may differ somewhat from each other, and my media choices vary, the heart of what I communicate does not change. My expressions of joy, tranquility and love for nature and people permeates every piece of artwork.

I have been a creative person all my life, but I didn’t really understand that because so much of my creativity came in the form of physical movement. In 2001 a virus left me with post-infectious chronic illnesses taking away my physical abilities. Tho difficult and challenging, this led me to the wonderful discovery of my creative self through painting. I began with watercolor and still love the exciting dance between water and paint. As my illnesses create ever changing challenges, so my art changes and evolves. I have been able to explore in acrylic and mixed media and my style continues to evolve based on my physical capabilities as well as my personal loves and passions.

In the past 37 years, I have lived in the Pacific Northwest, Hawaii, and the Southwest (AZ). You will see influences of each as my portfolio continues to expand.

I did learn some basics of drawing and composition and color theory in college art classes, but am largely self-taught. I've learned and developed my skills through an in-person workshop with Ron Ranson - renown watercolorist, online resources, books and lots and lots of exploration! I began selling my artwork in 2005.
